Product note:
The manufacturer does not recommend the use of this oil pump in high-performance, competition, or racing engines. Due to design updates to the housing of the M55HV pump, Melling instead recommends model MEL10550ST, which is specifically engineered for high-performance and racing small block Chevy applications. The 10550ST performance oil pump includes hardened steel dowel-pinned gears, a black manganese phosphate coating, and a 5/8" dia. press-in pickup screen. The pump is supplied with a heavy-duty drive shaft with steel sleeve and an additional spring for optional reduced pressure calibration.
