Time to update the rear of the 1972 Corvette
The Corvette has now been around for two summers, where the first year was mostly about getting to know the car’s driving characteristics. There are of course a few things to wish for on a car that has been on the road since 1972, so a few updates were made with new bushings and a composite leaf spring. This was also complemented with upgrades from Ridetech in the form of new shock absorbers and a stiffer front anti-roll bar.
How well did the updates work?
It may not have turned out quite as planned, and the car ended up a bit high in the rear to begin with. Slightly longer bolts brought it down a bit, but not perfectly. The balance of the car improved, but it still felt like it wasn’t 100% perfect.

New plans and new decisions
When it still doesn’t feel completely optimal, the hunt for new updates begins. After searching back and forth, the choice once again lands on Ridetech. Now there will be coilovers both front and rear, and the rear suspension is next in line for an upgrade in the summer of 2026.
With changes like these, there is always a range of other parts that also need to be updated and freshened up.
This is where the journey begins, one that often involves more work and higher costs than expected. The hope is that the emerging result will inspire and spark new ideas.
